The university town of Heidelberg on the Nekkar River has always been one of my favorites...
Probably because our first visit was so enjoyable and our small hotel hosts were so pleasant.
There are some nice views of Old Town from the Philosopher's walk on the opposite bank.
The Alt Stadt is virtually vehicle free and the whole city seems to come out for an after dinner walk.
